The Nurse with the Purple Hair is a documentary/educational movie about Hospice Care Workers, the people who take care of the dying.  It is meant to honor them and what they do for us.

In general, we deny death in our culture so we don’t have a tradition of caring for the elderly.  It’s too disgusting, upsetting, weird and unsettling. We warehouse our elderly and infirm, keeping them out of sight and out of mind.  As a result, we know very little or nothing about death nor how we might help one who is passing from this world. The Nurse with the Purple Hair shows how people can accept death with compassion, wisdom, and grace.

The movie is a labor of love from world famous horror director, Sean Cunningham. His personal experiences and interaction with the people in this movie create an unexpectedly touching and inspiring story.
